IAB - IAS International Symposium 2010 - Promote Selangor As A Hub of Education

Shah Alam, 2nd Muharram = 8th December (Wednesday):


The Symposium invitation attracted me to attend just to know what is the IAB-IAS. Reading the booklet just I know that International Academy of Biology (IAB) and Islamic Academy of Sciences (IAS) that two academies are working together with Universiti Industri Selangor (UNISEL) in organizing International Symposium 2010 with a theme of Integrating Education, Research, and Innovation for sustainability of Knowledge Society. This is the second year after the first symposium held at the same venue – Shah Alam last year.


In fact the International Academy of Sciences and International Academy of Biology (IIALSB) is an initiative developed by Selangor State Government in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia with Islamic World Academy of Sciences (IAS), Islamic Education Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC). Standing Committee for Science and Technology (COMSTECH) as international partners and IIALSB is managed by Universiti Industri Selangor. The objective of the symposium despite the academic and intellectual discourse but to promote Selangor as `A Hub of Education.`


The symposium focus is to examine the effects of the advances of research and innovation on education and curriculum for human resources development. It hopes to attract science scholars in Malaysia and international experts who are enthusiastic in scientific research to confer about the current progress of science and technology.


In his speech to officiate the symposium Y.A.B. Tan Sri Dato` Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim Menteri Besar said, ``by the symposium we hope to build network of academicians and to get the muslims together in promoting science and technology and to improve their economy.


According to Menteri Besar 50% poverty are from Islamic world. This is a challenge to our researchers in science and technology to overcome their problems and improve their economy.

Pofessor Abdul Salam Majali in his speech on behalf of scholars posted a question that do we live in the era of change or the change of era and how to transform the science and technology and translate into economy in our present situation. That the problems that would be discussed in the symposium.

Before that in her welcome speech as Chairman of the National Organizing Committee Y.B. Dr. Halimah said, ``On behalf of the organizing committee I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Honorable Chief Minister of Selangor, for officiating the Opening Ceremony of the IAB-IAS International Symposium 2010.


According to Dr. Halimah, ``It is important for Selangor to envisage the role of knowledge and know-how as major drivers for success and prosperity. She thanks all delegates from many parts of the world and she wish them have a pleasant and memorable stay in Selangor.

For the two days symposium the discussion divided into six sessions
